On behalf of all of us, I write to express our thanks and appreciation to all the good people who, under trying circumstances, helped our community get through the recent storm with a minimum of disruption. In particular, I would like to call attention to the fine work and perseverance of the Facilities and IT staff who kept our buildings and grounds safe, the lights on, and our computers functioning; to the Dean’s Office, Health Services and Dining Staff who put themselves in harm’s way to meet the needs of our students; and to the Safety and Security staff who not only looked out for everyone’s well-being but skillfully planned and coordinated this whole emergency response effort. I am proud to have such colleagues.
At the same time, I know everyone joins me in feeling shock and sadness at the unfathomable destruction and loss of life Sandy has left all around us. We will all be feeling the effects of this unprecedented storm, in ways large and small, for years to come.
